I love being a missionary

So this week is transfers! We haven’t gotten our call yet, we will tonight, so we don’t know for sure about Elder Petersen or me yet, but Elder Bouwhuis is going home! So that’s kind of sad but he’s excited to see his family. We had a pretty good week though. We went to the hospital again, not for one of us, but every so often we get asked to go and give a blessing to members in the University hospital. Its a really good hospital and lots of people go there, and we’re the closest missionaries so we get calls to go...

Nauvoo Temple!

So this last week was amazing! I got to Skype home for Mothers’ day, which was awesome! And I got to go to the temple this week! I haven’t been able to go for 9 months, just too far away from Nauvoo, but we went on Saturday. We went down for a baptism for someone Elder Petersen taught, and then to the temple! So it used up our pday, so we still get to email today, but we don’t have a normal pday this week, so it will be a long time until the next one, because next week is a transfer week, and so pday that week will be on...

Congrats Kimber and Tyler!

Well, first off, congrats to Kimber and Tyler!! So happy for you both! I had a pretty good week, but definitely not as good as yours. Anyway, I went on exchanges into the Spanish area here in Iowa City, and that’s always an adventure. This time we met a few people that spoke only Spanish, so Elder Johnson had to translate for me when I was supposed to talk, which I really only did when I bore my testimony at the end, but it was good. We got a member meal, which was totally unplanned, its just those people are so nice that they want to...

Last week

Well we had a really average week this past week, except Sunday. So we got a call on Saturday night by the primary president in our ward, and they were going to be doing a restoration presentation to the kids, and she was having people come in and dress up as the characters, like Joseph Smith or the angel Moroni or John the Baptist, and she asked if we would be a part of it, and be the three witnesses of the Book of Mormon, because there were three of us. Of course we said yes and got all dressed up and went in and did it for the junior...

Iowa City!

So I love Iowa City! It’s super fun and there are lots of people to teach and it is great. The other elders in our ward had a couple get married and then baptized last Saturday which was amazing! It was so great to see them make those choices and the Spirit was really strong. I got to be the chorister at the baptism (and at district meeting, i guess people found out I can lead music) and it was ok at district meeting, because I just get up and wave my arm and it doesn’t much make any difference what I do, but at the baptism, the...

Goodbye Ames!

I got transferred! I’m now in Iowa City, which is the opposite side of the mission. It’s the other big college town in the mission, home of University of Iowa, the Hawkeyes, who are the rivals to Iowa State’s Cyclones from Ames. So that’s kind of funny. My new companion is Elder Bouwhuis pronounced Bow (like to take a bow) iss. And this is his last transfer, so it’s been a great couple of days. We’re kind of similar, he’s just a year older than me. He’s from Toele, UT and likes soccer, played in...

I really liked conference a lot

So the weather is warming up! We got into the sixties for a week or so then back to around 40, but now its pretty good, can break out the short sleeves and its great! The only thing I don’t like right now is the wind. It gets pretty strong and makes walking outside annoying, but that’s not that bad. Spring break has been over for a week or so now so everybody’s back, it was a bit of a ghost town that week and I’ve heard that’s what it is like in summer, half the town leaves. Well this week was interesting....

Hey!!

Well this week seemed like a blur! Probably because of Zone Conference and an exchange with Elder Ridenour, but it still went by super fast. So we’ve had this super weird thing going on, with this referral, from the ZL’s, texting us and trying to set up a time to meet, but she gives us an address that doesn’t exist, or she calls us and is talking and then hangs up in the middle of the conversation. One time she told us that she was at the beach, then a couple minutes later said that she was in the Ames hospital and had been...
