Well it’s been 8 months

First off, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! to Dustin and Daniel! Sorry I’m late, so I hope that you had awesome birthdays and had tons of fun! So eight months ago today I entered the MTC! It seems like I went in a few weeks ago and it feels like I’ll be out here forever, but at the same time it feels like it’s been forever and that I won’t get to be a missionary for that much longer. Time is real weird out here. Well this week was super slow. We didn’t have a single investigator lesson, and went finding, which is mostly...

Time is flying! It really feels like it was just Christmas, but at the same time that seems like it was a really long time ago. So my new companion is Elder Olsen and he’s been out about 20 months (same with Elder Coy when I first was companions with him so for some reason I’m getting old missionary companions). So Elder Coy went home at transfers as well! This was a super big transfer meeting, with 31 people going home so lots and lots of departing testimonies, which took a long time, and some of the Sisters...

Transfer Week!

Feb 24, 2015 in Ames | 0 comments

So this week is transfers again! I can’t believe how fast this six weeks have gone! It seems like I came to Ames last week, and now Elder Anninos is leaving and going to be a district leader somewhere and I’ll get a new companion and be the senior one in the area, so hopefully I know where everything is! So I’ll let you know next week how everything went, but we had a pretty good week! We had another baptism! Her name is Elaine, and she is really awesome, and really believes that it’s true, and it was a really neat...

No longer a teenager

Hey, thanks for all of the birthday wishes, and things! So this week was pretty good, with a couple of exchanges and things with the District Leader’s companion, and then the Zone Leaders. So Elder Woolley (a zl) and I went to his area and we did some bus proselyting, because their area is a part of the ISU campus, so we rode the free bus that goes around campus twice, just to talk to people. I was pretty bad at it, and it took a few times to get a good conversation going, and so it was good for me. The other interesting thing that...

This week

Well this week was pretty good! We had interviews with President Jensen and so that was great! I love getting to talk with him and listen to what he has to say, and it is always fun to visit with Sister Jensen as well. So that was one of the highlights of this week. We did also have some good lessons with people. Turns out that one of the members we visited this week, Brother Ballard, is the grandson of Elder M. Russell Ballard, so that’s kind of neat. We also had an awesome visit with one of our more progressing investigators, Elaine,...

Well…it snowed

So this last week was really great! We got to teach a new investigator in a members home. Kelsey is the friend of some members and they invited her to learn about the church and then invited us and her over for dinner, which was fantastic! That was the first time that has happened to me on my mission and it was such a better environment than most of the other lessons, and it went well. We taught the Plan of Salvation as suggested by the member family (who knew what their friend needed, and we also felt that was what we should do) and Kelsey...

Ames, week 1

So its pretty good here in Ames, and we have a full time car, as opposed to the car share we were in, and it is a 2015 Chevrolet Cruze, and it’s a really nice car, and I feel super blessed and spoiled to get to use it, and it still has that new car smell. It’s been driven like 900 miles, so that’s pretty good. Our area is like 25 square miles or so, so pretty small, and my last one was similar, because I’m still in a city, so that’s nice that there are actually people here, and quite a few members, the ward is...

I was transferred!

Jan 19, 2015 in Ames | 0 comments

Hey, everybody! So I did get transferred for the first time, and I’m now in Ames, IA, which is actually really close to West Des Moines, like 45 minutes north or so. I’m excited about that, because for Zone Conferences and things like that I’ll get to see some of the missionaries in my last Zone, and I’m close enough to get to go back to West Des Moines for a baptism in February of someone that I taught there (the 13 year old daughter of a recent convert that he just got custody of). My new companions name is Elder...

Transfers??

Jan 12, 2015 in Des Moines | 0 comments

Well I haven’t gotten my transfer call yet, so I don’t know where I’ll be in four days, but I know that I’ll be where the Lord wants me to be. I just haven’t left my first area, so I don’t really know what the differences will be like and all of that, but it will be good. I’m excited to find out if I’ll be leaving or not! So this week was pretty cold, and we got a decent amount of snow last week on Monday. and it was pretty cold, so they shut us down for the night at 7 and we couldn’t drive...
