Conference Week

This week I’ve really learned a lot about the atonement. I absolutely love how Heavenly Father turns moments in our lives into teaching moments to help us come closer to him.

One little experience this week was we were contacting some people and I remember praying that we could be led and as I was getting in the car, I looked down another street and saw a guy outside. I had the thought to go talk to him, rationalized it as I got in the car and then was like, whatever might as well so we drove down there, knocked on one door and had a 10 min conversation with this lady who is searching, gone to a lot of churches and reached the conclusion you just need to be a good person. She was a little unsure about the Mormon part but it was cool to talk with her. Her house was completely out of the way. Heavenly Father really can lead us in the little things in our lives as we seek for help with things that are beyond us.

Nothing too crazy happened this week, well we had a day of zone leader trainings to go to and then exchanges, Sister Madsen came to O’Fallon to spend the day with me again. It was so cool to see how much she has grown in the 5 months since the first exchange I went with her! Loved getting to see that :) She shared a quote with me that I loved, “Heavenly Father is more interested in the offerer than the offering.” -Brad Wilcox. How true is that! He loves us.

But somewhere in there I got more of a glimpse of why we’re here and the power and true gift of God’s grace. It’s humbling, but such a source of true peace.

Then there was general conference and it just confirmed a lot of things I’ve been thinking about lately. We start where we are, follow the spirit’s customized counsel, keep the commandments, learn, turn to God and trust Him and his promises. The Lord needs disciples valiant in the testimony of Jesus Christ, which implies that we really have a testimony of Christ and are using his atonement to change on a daily basis. So much good stuff in conference. I’m excited about the ponderize thing too. Haha when he first started I was like wow he sounds like a missionary leaving a invitation to commit, nope just a rm and returned mission president. I thought that was pretty cool.

I sure love the gospel of Jesus Christ and feel so blessed to get to share that with people. This really is the way to lasting peace and joy. And our choices define who we are. I feel so grateful to my savior for so many times he’s reached out to help me.

I sure hope that you all have the best week, love you!
